A Pilot Scheme which will see the reduction of prices of liquid fuels is set to come into force on the Islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos in order to stimulate sales at Petrol Stations on the islands.
This pilot is started from 1st January 2019 and goes to 30th June 2019 on the islands announced Deputy Maritime Minister Nektarios Santorini. Petrol stations will be subsidised up to 19.5 cents per litre, which means a reduction in fuel costs before Easter in small and remote islands in the pilot.
Kostas Kaloyiannis, operator of Alonissos, is also looking to stimulate traffic, and reduce transportation costs, which are higher in the islands than inland areas. He believes that if implemented the measure will work positively for consumers who "are buttoned and buy small quantities," he said.
