Fun(d) raising group update

The Alonissos Fun(d) Raising Group have continued to do some excellent work over the last year.

Last year the group helped: -

The Council buy new gym equipmenthe council

Equip the local schools with new library books, soft furnishings and a photo-copier

Provide funds for the Alonissos Athletic Association for kit and travel costs

Contribute to the traditional dance group's costume costs

Fund a new stage at the Dimos theatre

Contribute to the publishing of material to promote our island by the Dimos

Fund the decoration of the medical centre and Doctor's apartment

Buy and had fitted air-conditioning in the x-ray room

Fund consumables used by the medical centre

Fund the visits by a paediatrician

Buy a projector, screen and cast iron camping pots for the scout group

This past year the group have raised money from quizzes, two bazaars and ,thanks to Jan Thomas, sold second hand books. The money raised has furnished a new classroom at the junior school and bought some lovely new books for the younger children.

They have also helped fund the cat neutering program on the island. They have committed to pay for a projector for the school and propose to help pay for curtains or blinds in the new classroom. Another proposed project is to subsidise the cost of a new defibrillator machine for the medical centre. This is really great work by the Fun(d) Raising Group and they would like to thank you all for your support over the past few years and in advance for the years to come.
