Anyone For Greek Dancing?

Remember Alan Bates asking Anthony Quinn how to dance in that classic 1960s film? Well if you fancy having a go yourself there’s no better teacher on the island than Jorgos Bellos at Taverna Panselinos in the Old Village.

He gives lessons most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in his taverna, which is just near the bus stop. His pupils are all different nationalities (and ages) although not usually Greek as he has separate classes for local people who travel throughout Greece (and further) to taker part in cultural dance festivals.

The classes start at 10am - ish - well we are in Greece and sometimes the start time might be a little delayed - and last an hour. Everyone is welcome. Some of the regular dancers spend quite a bit of time on the island or live here but if you are visiting the island for the first time, come along and give it a go. You might surprise yourself even if you think you have two left feet. It’s fun and also provides a bit of exercise to offset all that eating and drinking!

There is no need to book, just turn up. But if you want to check it out, or confirm the class for any particular day, you can contact Taverna Panselinos on 0030 24240 66371.
