Good practices for the marine environment and economy were discussed at a meeting on the 26th February 2019 at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. The meeting was attended by many noted speakers and included the Mayor of Alonissos.

During the meeting new initiatives were discussed in relation to the protection of ancient and modern shipwrecks which are seen to have cultural value. The largest wreck being the one in Peristera.

This was discussed in conjunction with new initiatives relating to diving tourism and will allow the protection of the marine economy as well as promoting Diving on the Island.
