If you are a non EU visitor to Greece and you wish to live or stay longer than 90 days in any 6 month period then you will need a residence permit
Types of Residence Permits in Greece: -
1. Temporary Residence Permit: Typically valid for up to one year, this is granted to individuals for specific purposes like studying or taking part in a training program.
2. Permanent Residence Permit: After legally and continuously living in Greece for five years, non-EU citizens can apply for a permanent residence permit.
3. Financially Independent Persons: Non-EU retirees or individuals with a steady income source from abroad can apply for this type of permit, which allows them to live in Greece without engaging in any professional activity.
4. Investor Residence Permit: The Greek Golden Visa program grants residence permits to non-EU nationals and their family members who make significant real estate investments in Greece.
5. Work or Entrepreneurial Activity: Non-EU nationals employed or engaging in entrepreneurial activities in Greece may apply for this permit
Requirements for a Greek Residence Permit:-
You must have a valid passport from your home country.
Demonstrate sufficient financial means to support yourself during your stay in Greece.
Valid health insurance covering your stay in Greece.
Provide a clean criminal record from your home country.
Additional documents may be required depending on the type of residence permit (e.g., employment contract for a work permit, acceptance letter for a student permit).
Please get in touch if you require any advice - many expats on the island have obtained the permits very recently.
