Parking in Patitiri on Alonissos is a joke, something needs to happen

Patitiri, the lively port of Alonissos, provides opportunities for shopping, dining, drinking, and swimming, embodying the typical idyllic image of a major town on a small island.

But all is not so sweet with business in Patitiri.....where is everyone?

We have spoken with many tourists visiting the island who mentioned they attempted to come to Patitiri for an evening meal but couldn't find parking, leading them to leave and go elsewhere.

Many people mentioned that they had reserved a table at a Patatiri Taverna but ended up canceling because there was no parking available. I have to say, the parking situation at the Port is ridiculous.

I encourage you to walk through the parking spaces at the Port, where you'll notice several cars that haven't been moved for quite a while. There's a Citroen C3 there that hasn't been moved in the last two years!

I believe the same applies to the parking at the tree car park close to the large bakery.

If the local businesses in Patitiri are concerned about the decline in business, how many owners or staff are leaving their cars in the parking lot when they come to work? I understand you need to get to work, but don't complain about the decrease in customer footfall—you need to address the lack of parking for visitors.

What about the cars occupying parking spaces for months or even years? Who is responsible for them? Furthermore, who actually cares? Clearly, no one does—not the port police, not the regular police, and certainly not the municipality.

Numerous academic studies discuss the negative impact these issues have on the community. I recommend reading "broken windows". The Island hasn't reached that point yet, but things are going unchecked—after midnight in Patitiri, the average age is 17, and it starts to resemble Dodge City. Please take control of the situation!

I'm not concerned... I walk into town... some people can't... but don't complain about the lack of visitors coming into Patitiri from other parts of the Island... take action regarding the parking situation!
