Alonissos Harriers Running Club

Couch to 5k is an NHS endorsed training programme for people who haven't been exercising much, and definitely not running.

There is an associated free app which takes runners from nothing through to a 5K, with encouragement and running tips.

I have used this programme to train a complete running novice, who then went on to successfully complete the Alonissos 10K challenge in 2018. This is a much harder 10K than most due to the difficult terrain.

It is designed to ease people into running gently, whilst minimising potential injury. Exercising for 30 minutes three times a week is recommended by medical professionals and this fits the bill. 

All you need is a good pair of running shoes and for the ladies a good, supportive bra. And of course the motivation and determination to take on a challenge.

We have a small numbers of runners (yes, we are all runners) of all abilities in the group, who pull on their kit and drag themselves out once a week in all weathers. come and join us if you want to have a go, or download the app and do it alone. Whatever suits you.
